Lexington Grad Hired as New Parks Superintendent for City of Mansfield

The City of Mansfield is pleased to announce the selection of Michael "Mike" Woogerd as the new Parks Superintendent. Chosen from a highly qualified pool of candidates, Mike will officially begin his role on Monday, November 3, 2025.

Mike brings deep roots in the Mansfield area, having graduated from Lexington High School and earning a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management and Administration from The Ohio State University's School of Environment and Natural Resources. His professional experience includes work with Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks, where he coordinated maintenance operations, naturalist programs, and volunteer engagement.

He attended the Great Lakes Park Training Institute in 2024 and brings hands-on expertise in playground inspections, hiking trail construction and maintenance, carpentry, forestry, and equipment upkeep. Mike is also an active member of the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association (OPRA).

"Mike Woogerd brings a strong blend of local roots, professional experience, and a deep passion for parks and natural spaces," said Louis Andres, Public Works Director. "We're excited to welcome him to the team and look forward to the leadership and fresh perspective he'll bring to Mansfield Parks."
