2 Defensive TDs, DeVito, Bowman Connection Key in Shelby Win over Colts

The Shelby Whippets offense racked up nearly 470 yards of offense and Shelby's defense scored twice in the Whippets impressive win, 52-14, on homecoming vs Clear Fork.

Brayden DeVito accounted for 5 TDs, two rushing on long runs of 78 yards and 51 yards, while he threw 3 TD passes to Brady Bowman.

Bowman had a 60 yard pick six on defense and hauled in 3 TD passes from DeVito, one of which he fumbled and scooped it up on the fly - going for a 65 yard score.

Sam Gwirtz had the other defensive TD for Shelby, as the linebacker picked up a fumble, caused by defensive end Carter Kessler, and rolled 65 yards to the endzone.

Clear Fork scored in 1st quarter on 7 yard run by QB Marcus Hoeflich and he had another great play, making two spin moves, on a 27 yard TD run in the 4th.

The win for Shelby (7-0,4-0) is their 20th straight regular season win, 20th consecutive game of scoring 20 points or more and the Whippets 5th game in a row scoring 40 points or more. Friday was Shelby's 2nd time scoring 50+ points. The win puts Shelby all alone in 1st place in the MOAC. The loss snaps Clear Fork's (5-2) three game win streak and hands the Colts their 1st loss in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference.
