Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash on State Route 58 in Ashland County
Sullivan Township - On September 19th, 2025 at approximately 6:05 PM troopers from the Ashland Highway Patrol Post were dispatched to a serious injury crash involving a single vehicle on State Route 58 just north of Township Road 150. A 2021 GMC Sierra was southbound on SR 58, went off of the right side of the roadway, and struck a tree before coming to a final rest. After the crash, the GMC Sierra caught on fire. The driver of the Sierra was able to exit the vehicle before it became fully engulfed in flames.
The driver of the GMC Sierra, Jason L. Carter, age 55 of Coolidge, Arizona sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by EMS to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Lodi Hospital. From there Mr Carter was life-flighted to Akron General Hospital in Akron, Oh.
At 1038 hours on 09/19/25 Mr Carter was pronounced deceased by the Summit County Medical Examiner due to his injuries sustained in the crash. It is unknown if Mr Carter was wearing his seat-belt at the time of the crash. The crash is currently still under investigation at this time.
