The Shelby Whippets (4-0) came from behind in the 2nd half to beat the Galion Tigers, 45-34, at the Whippet Athletic Complex on Friday night.
Galion led 14-6 after the 1st quarter and 21-20 at halftime. The Tigers scored a long TD to start the 3rd quarter to go up by a score of 28-20 with 11:07 left in the 3rd Q.
Shelby then outscored Galion 17-0 to grab the lead for the 1st time in the 4th quarter.
Whippets QB, Brayden DeVito scored 5 TDs, 3 rushing and 2 passing to lead Shelby's offense . Michael Shepherd and Avery Lambert caught TD's. Travis Slone and Gavin Baker ran the ball well. Slone was outstanding on defense and the Whippets came up with a huge safety late in the 4th quarter.
Galion WR Jacob Chambers had a big game, as he caught 3 TDs for the Tigers (3-1), who suffered their first loss of the year.
