Ohio’s new biennium budget includes a $10 million pilot program to help working families with child care costs. The Child Care Cred Program splits costs between employees, employers, and the state. Families earning up to 400% of the federal poverty line can qualify. The budget also expands child care provider capacity, funds recruitment, and supports early education. However, some proposed expansions, like a refundable child tax credit and broader eligibility for public child care, were not included.
