Mansfield Police: Child Dies, Apparently Left Inside Hot Car

A young old boy was pronounced dead at the hospital in Mansfield on Thursday afternoon after apparently being left inside a hot car.

According to RichlandSource.com, Mansfield Police said, it appeared a woman drove to work, went inside, forgetting the child was in the backseat.

Chief Jason Bammann, said, the boy was around 5-years old, officers got the 9-1-1 call and responded with the fire rescue at 2:30 pm on Wood Street.

First responders found the child unconscious in the vehicle and transported him to the hospital. The child was pronounced deceased at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.

The temperature on Thursday was in the upper 80's and the index reached the low 90's. The incident remains under investigation.
