Fox to Step Down as Dean of AU's College of Business and Economics in May

ASHLAND, Ohio – Daniel Fox has announced he will step down as dean of Ashland University’s Dauch College of Business and Economics, effective May 31. Fox, who had been serving as dean or interim dean since May 2022, will return to his role as a faculty member.

“We are grateful for Dean Fox’s three years of leadership in the College of Business and Economics. He oversaw the college through an important and successful accreditation period and helped to expand our academic offerings,” stated AU President Jon Parrish Peede. “We look forward to his continued service as a mentor to our undergraduate and graduate students.”

As dean, Fox was instrumental in securing prestigious accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business; less than 6% of the world’s schools offering business degree programs hold AACSB accreditation. He finalized the launch of a new academic program—a bachelor’s in industrial and systems engineering—and introduced new scholarships. He also provided direction on the college’s comprehensive offerings and to faculty and staff.

“I appreciate the generous support I have received from the Ashland community during my tenure as dean,” remarked Fox. “I am excited to return to the classroom to resume my true passion of teaching and service to the students of Ashland University.”

Fox joined AU in 2004 and has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in management, entrepreneurship, finance, business law and accounting as a tenured associate professor. He received the university’s Academic Mentor Award in 2021, Taylor Teaching Award in 2019 and Ellis Teaching Award in 2011.

AU’s College of Business and Economics offers a wide variety of undergraduate academic programs, ranging from traditional disciplines like accounting, finance, management and marketing to more specialized areas like entrepreneurship, fashion merchandising, industrial and systems engineering and sport management. There is also a top-rated MBA program that features a variety of formats and specializations to advance one’s career.

The College of Business and Economics also houses the Burton D. Morgan Center for Free Enterprise & Entrepreneurship, which is devoted to encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation of all AU students, no matter their major. The center provides expertise, support, education and connections to help turn one’s passion into a profitable business idea.

Ashland University will conduct a national search for a new dean of the Dauch College of Business and Economics.
