MANSFIELD, Ohio – OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital is recognizing one of its own for going above and beyond to honor patients who’ve served. Associates nominated Bobbie Mortimer, a Patient Support Assistant and Unit Clerk, for the Be Extraordinary Everyday Award, or BEE Award. The BEE Award is an OhioHealth Recognition Program to honor and celebrate associates who support clinical teams in providing extraordinary patient care. Mortimer is the hospital’s very first BEE Award recipient.

According to Mortimer’s BEE Award nomination, she pulls a report every day to find out which patients on her unit have served or are active-duty soldiers. She then creates flag magnets to place on their door frames, adding which branch of military they’ve served. In July, Mortimer had a shelf hung in the unit to place an American flag. She also had a sign made that reads, “Proudly Honoring Those that Serve.”

Veteran appreciation is something near and dear to Mortimer’s heart. “I started recognizing our Veterans in honor of the memory of my dad, James C. Pace Sr., who proudly served in the Army,” said Mortimer. I am sure he would love that OhioHealth honors our Veterans. They deserve the very best.”

“Bobbie has gone above and beyond to honor our veteran population,” said Stacy Pope, Manager of Nursing Excellence at OhioHealth Mansfield and Shelby Hospitals. “Bobbie's act of giving back to those who have given so much for our country demonstrates one of our core OhioHealth values, which is compassion. We are so proud to have her as part of our OhioHealth team!”

The BEE Award is one of nine recognition platforms at both Mansfield and Shelby Hospitals. OhioHealth strives to promote a positive culture where associates feel seen, cared about, and proud of the work they do. Mansfield Hospital will select one BEE Award honoree quarterly. Shelby Hospital will select one BEE Award honoree annually. If you’d like to nominate an associate, go to OhioHealth.com/BEEaward.
