Boys State Tournament: Shelby's Historic Season Ends In State Semi-Finals

The greatest season in Shelby Whippets boys basketball history came to an end on Saturday in the State Semi-Finals in Dayton. The Whippets fell to Maysville, 68-65, at UD Arena.

Alex Bruskotter led Shelby with an incredible performance in his final game in a Whippets uniform, as he scored a game high 34 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Casey Lantz added 12 points and pulled down 11 boards.

Jordan Watson led Maysville with 26 points, Alex Bobb had 22 points and Gator Nicholas chipped in 18 points.

Neither team led by more than 5 points in the entire game and there were 15 lead changes, along with 10 ties in the game.

Shelby, who reached the state tournament for the 1st time in school history, ends the year 25-3.

The Maysville Panthers (26-3) have won 21 straight and will play Kettering Archbishop Alter on Sunday (5:15 pm) for the Division II State Championship.
