Ashland City Schools Closed Thursday Due To Power Outage

The Ashland City School District is working on solutions regarding the power failure that occurred early Wednesday evening, causing the district to close school today.

The power failure occurred at the main electrical vault on Katherine Ave. The BCU Electric Company immediately dispatched a team to begin work on a solution. The Ashland City Schools team comprised of Randy Heller, Tommy Pellegrino Steve Paramore, Phil McNaull, Garth Boyd and Josh Packard worked with BCU late into the night to determine the correct actions to keep heat in the building and protect the plumbing from the freezing temperatures.

The district will continue to work with BCU Electric on solutions with hopes of returning our children to school as soon as it is safe and heat has been restored to our buildings.

The district would also like to thank Rachel Britton, Wendy Johnson, Dave Kitchen, Jeff Thomas, building secretaries, building custodians and head cooks for their assistance today.

Finally, the district would like to thank Ohio Edison Electric and Firelands Electric who were integral partners in supporting our efforts.
